Hunter 18 daysailer (1)

The Hunter 18 is a sloop rigged with spinnaker.

  • Crew: 2-6
  • LOA 18 ft. 4 in.
  • LWL 16.5 ft.
  • Beam 7 ft. 2 in.
  • Sail area (jib, main) 170 sq. ft.
  • Displacement 836 lb.
  • Sail area spinnaker

This is a relatively new boat design (2011) that, like our Capris is a fractional sloop (jib does not reach the top of the mast). It is similarly rigged but longer and heavier than a Capri and can comfortably carry a larger crew (2-6). The forward cuddy has a removable canvas cover which we may chose to not use, leaving that space as a cockpit extension which will be especially useful handling the spinnaker (downwind “parachute-like sail). The open transom will facilitate re-boarding from the water, and perhaps challenges retaining unsecured gear!
